American rapper Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, has officially lost his final legal battle in Romania after the High Court of Cassation and Justice rejected the extraordinary appeal filed by the artist.
The decision is final and confirms the nine-month prison sentence handed down in the drug possession case linked to the controversial incident that took place during the Beach Please festival in Costinești in 2024.
Supreme Court Rejects Wiz Khalifa’s Appeal
Romania’s Supreme Court ruled on May 7, 2026, rejecting the rapper’s appeal as unfounded. According to the official court decision, Wiz Khalifa must also pay judicial expenses to the Romanian state.
The ruling states:
“Rejects, as unfounded, the appeal in cassation filed by defendant Thomaz Cameron Jibril against criminal decision no. 1222/P dated December 18, 2025, issued by the Constanța Court of Appeal.”
The sentence is now definitive and enforceable.
The Incident That Started the Investigation
The case began in the summer of 2024, when Wiz Khalifa allegedly smoked cannabis on stage during a live performance at the Beach Please festival in Romania, in front of thousands of spectators. Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors from DIICOT later opened a criminal investigation.
Initially, the rapper received a financial penalty from the Constanța Tribunal. However, prosecutors challenged the ruling, and the Constanța Court of Appeal later sentenced him to nine months in prison with execution for illegal possession of risk drugs for personal consumption.
Could Wiz Khalifa Be Declared an International Fugitive?
Romanian authorities previously warned that if Wiz Khalifa refuses to surrender and serve his sentence, he could be officially declared a fugitive and placed under international pursuit procedures.
At this moment, the rapper has not publicly commented on the Supreme Court’s latest decision.
